Damn Spam!!
Spam to me is in a can. I slice it, fry it, put it on bread and eat it.
What bothers me most is people whine all the time about spam. Personally, I find it very tasty!!
Ok, the poor spam has really gotten a bad rap. I know a lot of people abuse it greatly by repeatedly posting the same post over and over. If you have a conscience, you won’t do that.
I must say that some of the best marketing education and programs have come to me in what some consider spam.
True Story: I became friends with someone on MySpace and in her friend request; she pitched her business to me right off the bat. I responded to her message…Here it is…
I checked out your website and I am already with GDI. I think it is pretty cool. I made my first $2 just the other day. It will be great to chat with you about the biz.I wonder if you checked out my website www.connectionfisher.com I am using this system to generate leads and it is fantastic training. Let me know what you think.

This was her response to my message…
Let me know if you’re interested and i’ll give you the steps.
Hi Diane,
Are you getting the proper GDI training you need? If you look at the leaderboards for last week and the recent weeks, you will see xxxxxxxx xxxx on that board up pretty high. It’s because i’m a home business trainer and personally train my team unconditionally.I train hundreds of people in the u.s. and worldwide. I give you the tools you need to succeed because i teach you exactly what i do. If your sponsor is not helping you and giving you a map to success, you can cancel and rejoin under me. I will introduce you to the team and qualify you for the free cruise i’m giving away.
Ok, first of all, not only is this spam, but it is also unethical if you ask me. I simply replied to her that I was great friends with my sponsor, and it would be great to network with her.
We had sent a few more messages back and forth and posted on each others wall a few times. I had some details about a great marketing training I thought she might be interested in, so I sent her an invitation message as follows…
Be There Or Be Square!!!
There is a free webinar with some top earners in Network Marketing Tonight!!!
They are not going to try to sell you anything. This is usually for members only, but I would like to invite you personally. Go to my home page and fill in the opt in form, and I will e-mail you the details.
Don’t miss it!!! Awsome Training on lead generation!!!

This was her response to that…
This is not the correct reply to the email i sent you. Slapping something like this in someone’s face is not the correct way to solicit your business. Try to get to KNOW SOMEONE first and THEN tell them about your business. This is a turn off to me, please do not send me these messages again, not interested!
I got myself under control and this was my reply…
Diane
Ok, I am sorry you were offended, but did you stop to think when you sent me your first message, that I could be offended by you asking me to quit my origional sponsor? I guess not, nor did you think it was unethical. I belive in the live and let live (or the network and let network) philosophy and you will never hear me cry about spam. I have learned some pretty valuable education from what some may consider spam. So if you will accept my apologies for offending you, we can walk away from this as friends, because I believe that we now have each others stance straight and I was hoping we could learn from each other. Frankly I wasn’t pitching my business, I was simply inviting you to a training, that by the way doesn’t even try to sell you something, that I thought you might find some education from. I personally learn something new all the time, and want to, because I believe that education is the key to success.
Pretty controlled don’t you think? Well, this was her response…
FRANKLY, HOW BOUT A FACE LIFT FISHWOMAN?
Oh, really mature!!! So I hit the delete button, and presto, we are no longer friends.
Quit whining about spam for heavens sake…Especially if you are in business and are talking to others also in the business of network marketing.
That’s it for now, I am off my “soap box”
